This is a very attractive country station built by the PLM company in 1882 and located 21 km south of Avallon on the single track railway line to Autun. The station corresponds to a PLM standard "3rd class" station design, for up to 30 passengers a day and it was operated by two staff; a station master and a postman. All the elements of this station have survived intact; main building with clock and two warning bells, WC hommes/femmes, waiting shelter, goods shed and level crossing gate keeper's house. The entire site is listed as a "protected monument".
The station master lived on the upper floor of the station. The ground floor contains the ticket office, a baggage handling space and waiting room with access to the paltform. In 2004, four passenger trains stopped each day, except Sundays, but a passenger was a rare occurence.
The station is unattended, but in reasonable condition.
In 2006, the windows were boarded up, no doubt to prevent vandalism.

March 2002. Looking north we see the principal station building with the warning bells (which do not work) the clock and, in the right distance, the freight shed. The site is overgrown but relatively clean, waiting for attention. No sign indicates that this is a listed building. The loop is rarely used as trains do not cross here, the station being unattended.
The platform shelter on the down loop, built for a time when railways carried most long distance traffic.
Sincey-les-Rouvray in August 2004. Fortunately, little has changed and the very isolated position of this station has protected it from damage, so far.
